    plain tickets huh?

get your mom a spa package from essentials on us1, get your dad something decorative for the outside room that is being built, for the sis, you could actually get the same thing as your mom and they could go together...

last year i got my mom a DVD player - now she is pretty behind on the technology side so your parents might already have one - but if not its a good all encompassing mom/dad gift - throw in a few dvd's they both like and your golden.

for your sister...why not just get her a gift certificate to a store she likes - jcrew/banana republic or something.

Or you could get your parents a gift certificate for dinner at a restaurant they like - and give it to them with a nice bottle of wine...

oo for your sister go to Bliss and get her a big box o girly stuff or a helen ficalora initial necklace - i dont know your sister so im going through things i got for my friends that are ladies.

    ill keep thinking though.

Jews do believe that Jesus existed. I mean, Jesus was a jew. We believe that he existed and that he is really cool and smart and had some great ideas but that he was not the son of God. It's sort of like the difference between how a sports fan worships a certain player and the rest of the world has heard of him and knows he's good at what he does, but doesn't like, google him or anything.

I tried that at my Mom's gay wedding when my grandmother was like "did you get your mothers (yeah, both of 'em) a nice gift?" and i was like "um, ME. I'm HERE. It cost 350 bucks to get here, dammit."

The MOMA design store is a good place to find something cool and New Yorky for gifts. I think the Bliss box is a good idea. Kiehls and Ahava are other product lines that are pricey but not too pricey, hard to find sometimes but easy to find in NYC, and people are always surprised by how superior these products are to whatever they were using before.

Do your parents a TIVO or DVR? Or a Netflix subscription? Always a good gift. If they like to cook or grill, you could do one of those Omaha Steaks packages or something similar.

Get your sister a knockoff Coach or Louis bag from Chinatown.

    Ok, those are my thoughts.
